Objective. To analyse the perception that teachers at universities in Lima have about the principles of academic integrity of their colleagues in the field of scientific research. Method. Descriptive research, cross-sectional design; non-probabilistic sample of 126 teachers. Data collection technique: survey. Instrument: self-developed questionnaire, designed and validated for this research, applied in digital format. Data analysis: descriptive statistical techniques were used, as well as a cluster analysis to see the profiles of the teachers surveyed; SPSS version 29 statistical software was used. Results. The most valued dimension is data confidentiality and privacy, followed by respect for the individual. The least valued dimensions are conflict of interest and collaborative work. Also, the perceptions of the surveyed academics about their colleagues’ principles of academic integrity, and their research experience, tend to determine their commitment to fostering an ethical culture and responsible behaviour in conducting research, rather than their knowledge of regulatory provisions. Conclusions. It is significant that both groups of teachers (from public and private universities) do not perceive the conflict of interest dimension as something to be highlighted in research; and present little appreciation for collaborative work, which implies the need to address them and work on them consistently at the level of the university community.
