Explorando la infraestructura tecnológica de las bibliotecas públicas del distrito de Capricornio
implicaciones para la prestación de servicios digitales a los habitantes de zonas rurales

El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la preparación de los bibliotecólogos públicos para prestar servicios bibliotecarios digitales a las comunidades rurales del municipio del distrito de Capricorn, en la provincia de Limpopo. La pregunta de investigación central que guía esta investigación es: ¿Están preparados los bibliotecólogos públicos para prestar servicios de biblioteca digital a los habitantes de las zonas rurales? El estudio emplea un análisis temático y deductivo para ajustarse a sus objetivos de investigación y a su enfoque estructurado. Se utilizó el análisis deductivo mediante el establecimiento de categorías predefinidas, que luego se utilizaron para clasificar y organizar los datos. La familiarización con los datos se logró mediante el proceso de entrevistas y la transcripción de las grabaciones de audio. La transcripción facilitó el proceso de codificación, permitiendo un examen simplificado y centrado de atributos específicos de los datos. Los resultados indican que los bibliotecólogos públicos están realmente preparados para ofrecer servicios de biblioteca digital, siempre que reciban la formación adecuada y tengan acceso a los recursos esenciales. Estos recursos incluyen smartphones, ordenadores de sobremesa/portátiles, bases de datos en línea, libros electrónicos, teléfonos, conexiones Wi-Fi/internet estables, dispositivos de escaneado y financiación adecuada. El estudio también identifica varias áreas de competencias clave que requieren atención: alfabetización informática, alfabetización digital, habilidades de comunicación en línea, habilidades de presentación, gestión de la información digital, habilidades avanzadas de búsqueda de información y atención al cliente. El examen de la preparación de los bibliotecólogos públicos para prestar servicios bibliotecarios digitales pone de relieve los esfuerzos por reducir la brecha digital y garantizar un acceso equitativo a la información y a los recursos educativos para todos los miembros de la sociedad.
