Abstract

Biogeography has been a fundamental aspect of the School of Geographic Sciences since its foundation, approached from a chorological perspective and enriched by a descriptive vision of geography. This article examines the presence of biogeography and related sciences, such as landscape studies, in the development of the School of Geographic Sciences through its core activities of teaching, research, and university extension. Over the past fifty years, the advancement of science has transformed the role of universities in society. Thus, this article connects the dynamics of the country and the planet to the trends in geography, specifically biogeography, within the National University.
