Abstract

The propose of this article is to analyze the advertisements that are published in the newspapers in Costa Rica between 1900 and 1930 offering coffee toasted and ground or inviting to consume coffee in public sites. The advertisements are some of the multiple factors that increase the internal consumption of coffee in Costa Rica. Studying the format and the speech that contributes the announcements, it is possible to come near to the impact that they have on the consuming population. The aim is then to study one of the elements that affect the increase of the consumption of coffee in Costa Rica
