EL ZERANOL: SUS EFECTOS EN CERDOS DE ENGORDE

Se implantaron "pellets" de 12 mg de zeranol en 11 cerdos a los 3 días de nacidos y se repitió la dosis a los 37 y 128 días de edad; como testigos quedaron 12 lechones de iguales características.
Todos los animales se pesaron antes de iniciar la prueba, repitiendo la operación a intervalos mensuales, excepto la pesada de los 5 meses que no se llevó a cabo. Al finalizar ia prueba (188 días) no se obtuvieron diferencias significativas entre los cerdos implantados y los testigos.
Se obsen;ó en los cerdos tratados el denominado "Síndrome Estrogénico" evidenciado por el edema de la vulva, de mamas y de la porción craneal del escroto.
