Abstract

We reflect on the skills that the librarian or information specialist must have to develop an online course. The reflection leads to the definition of distance and online education, within this framework, the sense of community is discussed and the meaning of collaborative learning is delimited, which serves as the basis for describing the process for designing online programs. The skills required to develop online courses are presented punctually. Finally, these skills are contrasted with the graduation profile of Mexican library schools.
