The word space is significantly different from receptions and how its occurrence varies both in common sense and in its understanding by science. As a geographic concept, space was inserted in the history of Geography under different approaches. For more than three decades,, the understanding of this concept as lefe bases influenced graphographers inserted in critical geography, to understand the understanding of space through the relational approach. Indeed, the present article lists the contributions of Rogério Haesbaert, Marcelo J. L. de Souza, David Harvey and Milton Santos to the understanding of geographic space in contemporary times.
