Abstract

During period from 1824 to 1890, Honduras, like any other State, took the first steps to reach its legitimacy in the external sphere, which was expressed in the struggle to define its territoriality and to obtain the recognition of the international community. This work aims at analyzing the role of the Honduran State in its territorial demands in front of Great Britain. The central problem is to understand the attributes of state power that Honduras had acquired during this period, and the strategy to follow in front of the reclamations on the Islands of the Bay and the Mosquitia.
