Abstract

This article builds on a periodization of the Latin American thought of the last half century in three phases. The author focuses on some expressions of Latin American philosophy of the last phase: globalization, and studies two perspectives: “rethinking imperialism” and “returning to humanism”, proposed by Walter Mignolo and Raul Fornet Betancourt, respectively. The author also relates these two views to the debates on the Philosophy of Liberation and argues for the need of a new philosophical, anthropological, and social project.
